The Assistant Chairman of the Government of the RF, a former Chief Sanitary Officer Gennady Onishchenko didn’t support an idea concerning permission of beer sale at stadiums. He noted on the air of “Russian News Service” that, if the country has chosen a strategy “to be in advance”, there is no need to look back.

“Football is mass sport, a population valve for energy outburst and a positive health image. There is no need to combine a sport temple and sacrilege by using of low-alcohol drinks – crazy ones,” told Onishchenko.

He brought into focus underestimation of low-alcohol drinks by Russian citizens. “When a great quantity of beer filled the market, mothers of fourteen years old boys took them to our drug therapists and a doctor said: “Your child has alcohol dependence” and the mother , “How so?! He drinks only beer,” exclaimed the mother. So, beer was not classified as alcohol. “Now, we moved on: energy drinks have appeared and it is a catastrophe,” Onishchenko underlined.

In December, the Minister of Sport Vitaly Mutko claimed that the question, concerning return of beer sale at sport stadiums remained open.

The State Duma Committee for Public Health opposed low-alcohol drinks sale at sport stadiums. By opinion of Nikolay Gerasimenko it contradicts healthy lifestyle.
