The Federal Service for Alcohol Market Regulation (I.P. Chuyan), the Ministry for Economic Development (A.V. Ulyukaev), the Ministry of Industry and Trade (D.V. Manturov), the Health Ministry (V.I. Skvortsova), the Federal Service for Consumers’ Right Protection (A.Yu. Popova), the Anti-Monopoly Service (I.Yu. Artemyev), the Ministry of Energy (A.V. Novak) and relevant departments of the State Duma were entrusted with a task to study an issue of enacting of the draft bill concerning staged reduction of alcohol production and circulation in PET containers, taking into account a position of the Government of the RF, kept in the official comment to the draft bill No 2121п-П11, dd. April 10, 2015.
Result report shall be submitted to the Government of the RF till June 1, 2016.

It bears noting that our position, concerning introduction of limits for PET use, maintained by our Union for five years, was supported by the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko and then the Government of the RF offered to prohibit use of 1,5l. PET containers from July 1, 2016 and then switch to 0,5l. PET containers.

PET prohibition: pardon impossible to execute”
Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich!
Thanks to the complex of measures of the Government of the RF directed to limiting of alcohol production and circulation under the “Government Strategy focused on reducing of alcohol abuse till 2020”, approved by the Government Decree No 2128-p dd. 30.12.2009, we have been observing a significant drop of brewing production during five years (from 113,9 mln. hl., to 76 mln.hl.).
We consider necessary in order to achieve mentioned aims – reduction of consumption level to 55% till 2020, to study the possibility for introduction of PET prohibition in the brewing industry. This step won’t be followed by additional expenses from the budget of the RF.
Unfortunately, due to dogged resistance of transnational companies, the mentioned draft bill didn’t pass the second reading although it was approved by all deputies of the state Duma.
So, a comma, probably not even the comma, but a final point in the phrase “PET: pardon impossible to execute” was put in the right place. We are waiting for the outcome from the State Duma.
