According to the data from the Federal Customs Service, 205 tons of malting barley seeds were delivered to the RF in 2016. The largest suppliers were Secobra, BayWa, KWS and Nordsaat. Supplied material contained 198 tons for commercial use and 7 tons for state trials.
The most demanded malting barley varieties 2016 were Eifel and Traveler of the company “Secobra”, delivered in the quantity of 50 and 30 tons correspondingly and also a variety Grace of the company “BayWa” – 41 tons.
Taking into account a multiple factor, 200 tons of seeds can be required for production of 50.000 tons of the second reproduction seeds, meaning 1.000.000 royalty income. Despite tough economic situation, malting barley seeds deliveries 2016 deserve high appreciation. We’d like to congratulate breeding companies with a successful start!
It bears noting that leading malting barley varieties can be observed within the Mid-Russian and Siberian Field Day “Barley, Malt, Hops and Beer in Russia” that will take place on the 1st of July and on 22d of July in the Kursk and Tyumen Regions correspondingly.
