Education and work experience:
1975 – 1981 studying Brewing Science at Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin) graduating as a Diplom-Engineer.
After graduation working as an operating supervisor at the Schlösser Brauerei in Düsseldorf.
1982 – 1986 Scientific Assistant with teaching duties at Research Institute for Brewing and Malting Technology of the VLB in Berlin. Research projects and PhD-thesis in “Aroma Formation of Berliner Weissbier with special focus on Acids and Esters” were further tasks.
For 18 years, starting in 1987 was holding a leading position as a Director at the Bitburger Brauerei, Bitburg, Germany, with responsibilities in fields such as technology and quality assurance. Beginning with the winter-semester 2004/2005 he took over the chair of Brewing Science at TU Berlin.
