We’d like to inform you that in January 11, 2014 The Union «Barley, Malt, Hops & Beer in Russia» (www.barley-malt.ru) will have been operating for three years.
For this period of time the Union became one of the largest branch unions in the Russian agro-industrial complex. We are uniting over 300 companies – Russian and foreign participants of the production chain “malting barley – beer”: breeders and seed growers, barley, hops and malt producers and also Russian independent beer and beverage companies. The Union has got regional subdivisions in Germany and the Republic of Belarus and also representatives to the constituent entities of the RF. The subsidiary in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Armenia will be opened in 2014.
According to the traffic ranking of our website, the Union is the leader among Russian professional unions and one of the most popular top – 10.000 RuNet sites. This goes to prove that the Union is well known among Russian agro-industrial companies and countrywide.
The total crop acreages of the Union companies exceed 5 million ha, over 80% of Russian malting barley and hops are grown there. Partners of the Union produce over 40% of Russian malt and over 20% of the brewing products.
Activity of the Union is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture of the RF, the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management, RF State Duma Committee on Agrarian Issues and the Federal Service for Alcohol Market Regulation.
The Union has carried on a direct dialogue with the Russian Government, Economic Development Ministry, Regional Development Ministry, the Treasure Department, the Federal Antimonopoly Service, special-purpose committees of the State Duma and the Federation Council of the RF.
The Union has formed an Expert Council (you can find the list here: http://barley-malt.ru/?cat=128) and the Community Council is in the final stage.
An international project of the Union “Beijing Program” – the program of malting barley production for SCO countries has been supported by the Presidential Experts Directorate led by Putin V.V. and also the Economic Development Minister Ulyukaev A.V. One of the results of “Beijing Program” implementation has been a creation of the Russian-Chinese Intergovernmental Agricultural Sub-Committee in October 2013.
The Union has formed a well-known three “K” rule in which not only the brewing but the whole alcohol industry shall conduct activities: culture of consumption, product quality and state control.
The Union is an organizer of the key industry activities: Field Day “Barley, Malt, Hops & Beer in Russia”, International Conference “Barley, Malt, Hops & Beer in Russia” that will be run in 2014 for the sixth time. The Union activities serve as a platform for awarding prizes to the representatives of the Union by the Ministry of Agriculture of the RF. The Field Day of the Union attracting many participants every year is the largest event in the agricultural sector. The Forum “Sochi beer”, a contest “Russian Beer Star”, a competition “The Best Russian Malting Barley Producer”, a beauty contest “Beer Beauty of Russia”, Festival of national Beverage, Kvass and Beer “Peredelkifest” are hold with the support of our Union.
