V Conference: imposing restrictions on malting barley import (2013-08-26)

According to the letter of the Ministry of Agriculture of the RF № ИШ-21-19/8059 in response to an enquiry from Economic Development Ministry and the letter № П11-32704 of the Central Office of the Government of the Russian Federation, Barley, Malt and Beer Union was instructed to formulate and provide information – analysis documents, including arguments for applying measures of customs tariff regulations in the matter of imposing restrictions on malting barley import to Sub-Committee of Customs Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulations, safeguard actions towards foreign trade of The Economic Development and Integration Government Commission and also to The Department of domestic market protection of Eurasian Economic Commission. As noted in the letter of Economic Development Ministry from 01.08.2013, according to the figures from Federal Customs Service barley supplies (tariff number) were 521.000 in 2012. It was 37,5% higher than in 2011.

We inform you that Republic of Belarus will impose a ban on malting barley import. On 16th of August Alexander Lukashenko declared that villages in Belarus can cover domestic market requirements independently.

“No one ton of imported malting barley will be delivered from Germany and Czech Republic”, stated President A. Lukashenko, adding that this year harvest of malting barley was quite good.
