Joint scientific projects of Russia and China (2011-03-30)

In accordance with an intergovernmental agreement between Russia and China, both governments are ready to support companies involved in the implementation of joint scientific projects aimed at deepening economic cooperation between Russia and China.

The Barley and Malt Union has initiated the preparation of a project to organize the production of malting barley in Russia for export to China. Leaders of the Union held negotiations with the responsible authorities of Russia and China about the possibility of supporting this project under the existing intergovernmental agreement.

At the moment, the Barley and Malt Union is authorized to undertake the preparation of project documentation and submit it for approval to the Russian Government.

The first stage of the project will be the organization of malting barley variety trials in three agro-climatic zones of Russia (CCR, Siberia and Far East) to determine the most appropriate region from economic and agrotechnologic points of view and to find out what sorts are popular in Chinese malting and brewing industry. The second step will be organizing a full-scale production and exports of malting barley to China.

Companies interested in participating in this project, please, address to the Union before April 30, 2011 for inclusion in our project documentation.
