National seminar – conference in the Republic of Tatarstan (2012-02-28)

Hereby we inform you that Barley and Malt Union (BMU) took part in a national seminar-conference “Results of work in 2011 and targets to achieve thrifty manufacturing in enterprises of AIC in 2012,” which took place from 17.02 to 19.02 in the Mamadysh area of the Republic of Tatarstan (RT).

During the conference the President of BMU Alexander Mordovin met the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The Republic President welcomed the launch of joint activities of BMU and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan in order to ensure production of high quality raw materials for the brewing industry in the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Within the walls of the RT Ministry of Agriculture on 17.02 was held a meeting with Mr. M.Akhmetov, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Tatarstan, Mr. I. Gabdrakhmanov, Deputy Minister, Mr. A. Sarikay, Director of Efes-Kazan plant, Mr. A. Ayhan, purchasing manager of the company Efes-Russia, Mr. Y. Yerov, General Director of “Elite seeds of Tatarstan”, Mr. R. Kamalov, Director General of Ltd. “Basu”, Mr. S. Israilov, Alexander Mordovin and Alexey Rubtsov, President and CEO of Barley and Malt Union, as well as BMU partner companies conducting activities in the territory of Tatarstan.

The conference touched upon the following topics: legal regulation of the brewing industry, the work of Barley and Malt Union to protect the interests of the production chain “malting barley – beer”, development of the national program “Production of high quality raw materials of brewing in the RT”, the possibility of cooperation BMU, Ministry of Agriculture and Food of RT and Efes Company in order to organize the production of malting barley in the territory of the Republic and its delivery to the factories of the Efes  Company, as well as the production of high quality seed for this purpose and the issues of minimizing the role of intermediaries. BMU and Efes Company were asked to make a selection of malting barley varieties for testing to determine the varieties best suited to the agro-climatic conditions of the RT and demanded by Efes Company to launch a primary seed growing. The parties are united in their belief that within the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan there shall be made not less than 150,000 tonnes of malting barley to meet the needs of the Efes Company.

At the end of March 2012 is scheduled to hold an extended meeting of interested parties with the participation of agricultural producers of the RT, where will be presented the work stages to accomplish the task.
