On the 1st of March the President of Barley and Malt Union (BMU) A. Mordovin, as well as the representative of Saatzucht Josef Breun Dr. E. Loop, visited Moscow Efes Brewery within the framework of the working trip. During the visit they held negotiations with the Barley and Malt Procurement and Development Manager A. Ayhan and Barley Procurement Supervisor E. Seifullin.
In the course of the visit the following issues were discussed: the minimization of illegal malting barley batches; the observance of the license agreements concerning the use of malting barley varieties by Efes; the “intercept” of contracted by brewing and /or malting companies lots of barley and their sales through the intermediary to other market participants; the pay-off (Royalty) for the use of certified malting barley varieties; the contribution of BMU to the organization of malting barley production in the Republic of Tatarstan.
In the course of the meeting the plan for further cooperation was drawn up, as well as the possibility of introduction of the Code of Honor for malting barley producers, traders and consumers, was discussed in order to normalize the seed and malting barley market that all market participants should join.
