Date of birth: 05.08.1954

Education:

1971 – 1976 – a student of Moscow Agricultural Academy; the Chair of Genetics, Selection and Seed Growing of Field Crops. Andrey graduated cum laude from the Academy;

1976 – 1978 – a post-graduate student of All-Union Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute; the Department of Genetic Principles of Breeding; the Lenin scholar;

1978 – 1983 – a junior research assistant in All-Union Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute;

In 1982 Andrey presented a winter barley thesis for a Candidate’s Sc. Biology degree;

Work experience:

1983 – 1985 – a senior research assistant of the Chair of Genetics, Selection and Seed Growing of Field Crops in Moscow Agricultural Academy;

From 1985 – to present Andrey has been working at Vavilov Institute of General Genetics first in the position of the senior research assistant then the leading researcher of the Phytogenetics laboratory.

In 2008 presented a barley reserve protein thesis for a Doctor’s Sc. Biology degree; Specialty: Genetics.

Interests:

Research interests underlie in genetics within intervarietal polymorphism and locus genogeography controlling barley reserve proteins.

Together with a professor Puhalsky V.A. they established a Testing Laboratory for barley and wheat variety control, first accredited by the State Seed Inspection of the Ministry of Agriculture of the RF within Seed and Planting Material Certification System of and then within the Voluntary Certification System «Rosselkhozcenter».

Andrey is one of the leading specialists in the field of laboratory variety inspection of barley.
